• Description: Provides school-based academic advising, counseling and classroom tutoring; in-home education and support for families including language translation/interpreting; reading recovery program for 1st-2nd grade students; and educator training. Students may be eligible to receive emergency financial assistance on a limited basis for necessary dental or medical care if other resources are not available. Summertime programs include free meals, a camping program for middle schoolers, and specialized education and leadership development opportunities. For students who have not graduated from high school and have come into the community to work, outreach services are offered for English language assistance, basic needs, education and employment, and linkage to community resources. The First Teacher project offers educational assessments and school readiness for preschoolers and includes parent education and training to support school readiness. Migrant Education also includes a parent education and outreach component designed to connect parents with schools and student progress through Parent Advisory Committees and Parent Liaisons in each school district.

• Eligibility: Student or family has moved within the last 3 years from one school district to another with the purpose of seeking work or working in agriculture, fishing, or lumber industries. No documents required. Educational and support services are available for individuals up to age 22.
